The first four teams to move past the Champions League play-off stage and into the last 16 have been determined. Among them, Bodo/Glimt surprised many by knocking out Inter Milan.

In the early hours today, the four second-leg matches of this season’s Champions League play-offs took place. The Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt created a huge shock by defeating Inter Milan 2-1 at San Siro, securing their spot in the Champions League round of 16 with an aggregate score of 5-2.

Bodo/Glimt caused a major upset by beating Inter Milan 2-1

After winning 3-1 at home in the first leg, the Norwegian side continued their surprise by scoring twice in the second half through Jens Petter Hauge and Hakon Evjen in the return leg. Inter attacked relentlessly from the start but lacked sharpness and were repeatedly frustrated by the disciplined defense of the visitors.

Alessandro Bastoni managed to pull one back late for Inter. Over 3,000 Bodo/Glimt fans traveled to Italy to witness this historic night, while Inter became the latest shock in Italian football’s European campaign this season. Bodo/Glimt’s opponent in the round of 16 will be either Man City or Sporting Lisbon.

The Bundesliga representative, Bayer Leverkusen, secured their place in the Champions League round of 16 after a 0-0 draw at home against Olympiacos, winning 2-0 on aggregate over the two play-off legs. Thanks to their away win in Greece, the German side didn’t have to exert full effort but still controlled the game and kept a clean sheet.
