Despite having a man advantage, PSG surprisingly lost the title.

Playing with one fewer player for the majority of the game, Lens still pulled off a 1-0 victory over PSG to win the French Super Cup for the first time.

In the early hours of August 17 (Vietnam time), Lens hosted PSG at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium for the 2026 French Super Cup. Despite being considered underdogs, Dino Toppmöller's men started with an aggressive approach, applying constant pressure and making life difficult for the defending Ligue 1 champions.

The first breakthrough occurred in the 32nd minute. Matthieu Udol delivered a ball into the box, and Florian Thauvin was perfectly positioned at the far post to slot home a simple close-range finish, putting Lens ahead.

Only seven minutes later, Lens suffered a heavy setback as Kyllian Antonio was shown a direct red card. The young Lens player made a clean tackle on Maghnes Akliouche but then stamped on the opponent's shin. Referee Jérémie Pignard immediately sent Antonio off, leaving Lens with ten men from the 39th minute.

In the second half, PSG pushed forward and dominated possession. Luis Enrique's side kept pressing, while Lens sat deep and set up a multi-layered defense to hold onto their narrow lead.

A notable opportunity came for PSG when Désiré Doué hit the woodwork. In the 75th minute, Fabian Ruiz found the net for Lens but the goal was disallowed for offside. The lack of precision in the final touches made the Ligue 1 champions powerless against the home team's solid defense.

By the 87th minute, PSG were also reduced to ten men after Nuno Mendes was sent off for swinging his arm at Michal Skoras' face. Lens successfully held on to a 1-0 victory, securing their first French Super Cup. This result also ended PSG's four-title winning streak, the team that had just beaten Aston Villa in the European Super Cup a few days earlier.
