Amorim speaks bluntly about Man United after a 4-2 victory

Amorim's emotional encounter with Manchester United saw AC Milan triumph 4-2 in Poland, but Italian media focused more on his remarks about his former team.

According to Sky Sport ItaliaRuben Amorim had a memorable reunion with Manchester United, guiding AC Milan to a 4-2 victory in a preseason friendly in Wroclaw, Poland. Man United took the lead through a Harry Maguire header, but Milan showed superior finishing. Samuel Chukwueze equalized before the two teams produced an exciting second half.

Patrick Dorgu put Man United ahead in the 51st minute, but Alphadjo Cisse equalized just six minutes later. Then Goncalo Ramos and Ruben Loftus-Cheek each scored, completing Milan's comeback. This was also Amorim's first match against Man United since leaving Old Trafford in January, ending a stint with a Premier League win rate of just 31.9%. However, he did not view this victory as revenge against his former club.

When asked about his feelings for Man United, Amorim remained positive. He stated: “I'm proud to have worked at Manchester United and I still love the club, but after signing with Milan, I don't feel any negativity. I'm very happy to be where I want to be and just want to continue my work here.”

The 41-year-old manager admitted that meeting Man United again was very special, but his goal was simply to help Milan have a good preseason run. Amorim added: “Of course, facing them again is very special, but I wanted to win a preseason match so the team could have a good performance ahead of the new season.”

According to Sky Sport ItaliaAmorim was not entirely satisfied despite Milan scoring four goals. The Rossoneri's defense showed several issues, especially at the start of the game and the beginning of the second half. “I think we should be concerned about how we conceded goals. We let opponents score, both against Celtic and today,” he warned.

Amorim also explained why he left out Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana, and Christopher Nkunku from certain matchday squads. With nearly 40 players in the squad, he needs to streamline the team to give opportunities to young talents. “You can't do that with a squad of nearly 40 players. I feel sorry for the players, but this is something we have to do,” Amorim stated.
