Mikel Arteta confirms his future with Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has sent a calming message to Arsenal supporters, as he has nearly confirmed his intention to remain with the London side. The Spanish manager is believed to be on the verge of putting pen to paper on a new deal, which will come with a substantial pay rise following his successful revival of the "Gunners" to the Premier League summit.

Mikel Arteta is entering the final 12 months of his current contract with Arsenal, but the future of the Spanish manager at the Emirates Stadium seems to be no longer a cause for concern.

Ahead of the Community Shield clash against Manchester City, Arteta stated that he is extremely happy at Arsenal and wishes to continue his work in North London. These remarks are seen as the clearest indication that both parties are moving toward a new contract.

Arsenal is eager to swiftly tie Arteta down after he helped the club win the Premier League title last season, ending a 22-year wait for the English championship.

Although Arteta's current contract has only 12 months remaining, the 44-year-old coach believes that the timing of signing a new deal is not an urgent matter. Arteta said: "Fans don't need to worry about that, because I want to stay here. I am extremely happy."

He added that he is very grateful to work with the people at Arsenal and that both sides will address the contract matter at the right time. "When we can, we'll sort it out. That's it. There's always another priority."

According to Arteta, both he and the Arsenal board are comfortable with the current situation and do not view the contract duration as an issue that could affect their work.

"That's how we've handled this matter, because everyone feels comfortable that the contract length won't become a problem. My intention is definitely to stay here, and I'm very happy. My feeling is that the club shares the same thinking. So, everything is progressing very naturally."

According to published information, Arteta currently earns around £10 million per year at Arsenal. If he signs a new contract, he is expected to receive a considerably higher salary.

This move is seen as a well-deserved reward for what Arteta has achieved since taking over Arsenal. Under the Spanish manager, the team gradually rebuilt their squad, became regular title contenders, and finally conquered the Premier League in the past season.

When asked if he was surprised by the enormous fees in the transfer market, Arteta admitted: "Yes. I wouldn't bet on that. That's the market. It means there are clubs willing to invest, or they believe that those players are worth that value, and that's completely fair."

Arteta also declined to comment on Arsenal's interest in Ezri Konsa and Jarell Quansah.

Ahead of the match against Manchester City, Arsenal received positive news regarding their squad. Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Martin Zubimendi all did not play in the friendly against Como on Wednesday. However, all three are expected to be in the Arsenal squad to face Man City.
