Kieran Trippier chose to move to Wolverhampton Wanderers following encouraging discussions with head coach Rob Edwards, yet just three days on, the tactician was suddenly dismissed, causing the ex-Premier League player to be "abandoned".

Kieran Trippier is becoming the center of attention at Wolverhampton Wanderers after experiencing one of the most unbelievable starts in his career. The English defender has just decided to join the Championship club, but only 3 days after signing the contract, manager Rob Edwards unexpectedly was sacked.

Notably, Coach Edwards was considered one of the key reasons why Trippier chose Wolverhampton. The 35-year-old player had positive exchanges with the English tactician before deciding to leave Newcastle United to start a new challenge, but things quickly turned around. Wolverhampton decided to terminate the contract with Coach Edwards and accelerated the process of appointing Cesar Peixoto as his replacement.

Trippier was convinced by Coach Edwards to join Wolves

Sharing in his first interview since joining Wolverhampton, Trippier admitted he was also surprised by the club's decision: "I'm not going to sit here and lie, I didn't expect this at all. But that's the club's decision. Of course, I had good conversations with Rob, but I'm here to play for Wolves."

After the shock above, information emerged that Trippier was disappointed and even wanted to find a way to cancel the contract with Wolverhampton. However, the former Newcastle defender immediately denied it.

Trippier was once a key factor in Newcastle's successful journey

Trippier affirmed that he never had any intention of leaving the club and is still fully focused on the new season: "I've read it all: that I want to cancel the contract, and all this nonsense. I just want to get back to Wolves. Honestly, I don't know where the rumors that I want to tear up the contract come from - it's definitely not from me, otherwise you would have heard it from my own mouth, that's the kind of person I am."

At the age of 35, Trippier accepted a return to the Championship after more than a decade playing at the highest level. Before coming to Wolverhampton, he had memorable years at Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, and Newcastle, while also winning La Liga with Atletico.

Trippier said that the decision to drop down to the Championship does not make him feel ashamed. On the contrary, the English player wants to try a new environment and especially considers being close to his children as an important factor.

Trippier affirmed that Wolves must aim for an immediate return to the Premier League

With Wolverhampton, Trippier is also playing a leadership role in the dressing room. He warned his teammates that the Championship is a league tough and completely different from the Premier League, where every match can become a physical battle.

Despite the upheaval on the coaching bench, Trippier's goal has not changed. The former England international believes Wolverhampton needs to quickly forget the disappointing season just past and focus on the task of returning to the Premier League.
