MU newcomer shares hobby similar to rapper Đen Vâu

Just joining Manchester United Women's Club, Janina Leitzig quickly attracted attention with a very ordinary hobby: she especially loves gardening, growing vegetables and taking care of plants after training sessions.

Manchester United just welcomed Janina Leitzig during the summer transfer window, as the German goalkeeper signed a contract with the women's team until 2029. However, besides the professional story, she also intrigued fans with a quite special hobby: Gardening.

This hobby gives Leitzig an interesting common point with Vietnamese rapper Đen Vâu. The 37-year-old artist also loves planting trees and nature, along with stories tied to a life close to nature and plants.

During her time at Leicester City Women's Club, Leitzig had her own garden and regarded growing vegetables as one of her greatest joys outside football: "I really like gardening. Back home, everyone grows their own vegetables and they are tastier, the vegetables are also tastier."

For the 27-year-old female goalkeeper, gardening is not just a hobby. Living away from family during her professional career sometimes makes her feel lonely. Therefore, after stressful training sessions, Leitzig often spends time caring for plants to relax.

Leitzig joined Leicester City Women's Club in January 2023 on loan and was initially expected to stay for half a season. However, the period of attachment later lasted 3.5 years before she moved to MU Women's Club.

Although Leicester City Women's Club was relegated last season, Leitzig still has much affection for her old team. She hopes Leicester will soon return to the Women's Super League.

After arriving in Manchester, Leitzig currently does not have a private garden. Nevertheless, her love for outdoor activities is maintained. During the summer holiday, she took the opportunity to go surfing in Cornwall before returning to training with MU.

On the pitch, Leitzig has a completely different image. She will have to compete for the starting spot with Phallon Tullis-Joyce, who played 21 of 22 matches in the WSL last season. Leitzig said MU sees this as a competition and she will do her utmost to seize the opportunity. Meanwhile, the German goalkeeper stressed that both need to support and motivate each other to progress together.
