0King Power is selling Leicester City for over £200 million, potentially ending 16 years of ownership after a period of ups and downs.
The Srivaddhanaprabha family's King Power Group is seeking a new owner for Leicester City, potentially ending 16 years of association with the English club. King Power has hired Citigroup to prepare a sales dossier for Leicester City under the name 'Project Lineup', targeting potential investors. The asset package put on the market includes the men's team, women's team, King Power Stadium, Seagrave training center, and OH Leuven, Leicester's sister club in Belgium.
According to Citigroup's valuation, Leicester's physical assets alone are worth around £224 million, with the 32,000-seat King Power Stadium and the Seagrave training center being notable assets. Seagrave has been in use since 2020 and was once valued at £121 million.
Leicester also has potential for facility development, having purchased additional land around the King Power Stadium in 2023. The club plans to increase the stadium capacity to 40,000 seats, while also building a hotel and entertainment complex.
The sales dossier highlights Leicester's remarkable successes over the past two decades. Most notably, the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season, when the club created one of the greatest fairy tales in English football history.
The club then went on to win the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2021, while also making its first appearance in the Champions League. Leicester also stands out for its youth development and player development capabilities, factors expected to attract investors.
However, the current situation is completely opposite to the golden era. Leicester is playing in League One after two consecutive relegations from the Premier League to the Championship and then to League One. In the three seasons from 2023 to 2025, the club suffered financial losses of over £180 million.
King Power bought Leicester for £35 million in 2010. After billionaire Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha passed away in 2018, his son Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha took over the club. Although putting Leicester on the market, King Power is not under pressure to sell immediately. The group continues to invest, with nine new signings recruited this summer to support manager Russell Martin.
