Earlier yesterday afternoon, after about a 3-hour flight from Hanoi, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team landed at Kuala Lumpur Airport. Striker Nguyễn Xuân Son and goalkeeper Đặng Văn Lâm were among the first players to complete procedures and collect their luggage.

At the airport, a group of Vietnamese fans living and working in Malaysia were present to welcome the team. The fans displayed banners and cheered for the players ahead of the important match. Coach Kim Sang Sik also friendly interacted and high-fived with the fans.

After completing immigration procedures, the entire team moved to the hotel to rest, beginning the process of acclimatization and preparation for the match.

The Vietnam national team will be guests against Malaysia in the first leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 semi-final on August 16 at Kuala Lumpur Stadium. The second leg will take place at Mỹ Đình Stadium on August 19.

Minh Vương unexpectedly refuses V-League

Midfielder Trần Minh Vương decided to leave Đồng Nai, a team that just earned promotion to the V-League, to choose a destination in the First Division for the 2026/27 season.

Minh Vương has reached an agreement to leave Đồng Nai despite the team just winning promotion to the V-League. The next destination for the former HAGL midfielder is likely CLB CAND, which will compete in the First Division next season.

Minh Vương's decision attracts attention because he still showed outstanding performance in Đồng Nai's colors. In the 2025/26 season, the midfielder born in 1995 made 23 appearances in all competitions, scoring 9 goals. He was also voted the Best Player of the First Division.

Instead of returning to the highest level of Vietnamese football with Đồng Nai, Minh Vương chooses a new challenge in the First Division.

If the deal is completed, the 31-year-old player is expected to become an important factor in CAND's competitive plans for the 2026/27 season.

The second ticket sale for the Vietnam vs Malaysia match at Mỹ Đình Stadium opened at 2:00 PM on August 13. Shortly after the system opened, all ticket categories in this batch were reported sold out, showing the great appeal of the decisive match for a spot in the final.

Earlier, the first batch of tickets was also strongly sought after by fans. The organizers released tickets for the second leg semi-final at four price levels: 300,000 VND, 500,000 VND, 700,000 VND, and 1 million VND. At one point, about 60% of online tickets were sold within just 1 hour and 30 minutes of the system opening.

The Vietnam national team is attracting great attention as they enter the semi-finals with an unbeaten record and top of Group A. Coach Kim Sang Sik's team will be guests against Malaysia in the first leg in Kuala Lumpur at 8:00 PM on August 16. Three days later, the two teams will meet again at Mỹ Đình at 8:00 PM on August 19.
