After the World Cup star, CA TP.HCM continues to strengthen its squad with a quality pair of 'running machines'

Công an TP.HCM Club has officially confirmed that Võ Minh Trọng and Nguyễn Phi Hoàng will join the squad, greatly boosting their left-side options before the new campaign.

On the afternoon of August 13, Công an TP.HCM Club officially announced that Võ Minh Trọng and Nguyễn Phi Hoàng will be part of the squad for the new season. These two players have previously represented Vietnam U23 and are highly regarded for their physical foundation, speed, and ability to cover wide areas on the left flank.

In its announcement, the police-backed club emphasized: "With their proven professional ability and class, Võ Minh Trọng and Nguyễn Phi Hoàng will undoubtedly be extremely important additions to enhance the quality and depth of the squad, ready to compete on multiple fronts,".

For Võ Minh Trọng, this is actually a return to Thống Nhất Stadium. The defender born in 2001 was previously loaned by Becamex TP.HCM to Công an TP.HCM during the second half of the 2025/26 season, making 13 appearances across all competitions and helping the team win the National Cup.

Minh Trọng is a familiar name to Vietnamese football fans. The Cần Thơ-born player has represented the U18, U19, U22, and U23 Vietnam teams before being promoted to the senior national team in 2023. He featured in the 2023 Asian Cup and can play both left-back and left winger.

Meanwhile, Nguyễn Phi Hoàng brings an additional option full of speed and youth. Coming through the ranks at SHB Đà Nẵng, Phi Hoàng attracted attention by being promoted to the first team at a very young age and has progressed through various levels of Vietnam's youth teams.

Notably, Phi Hoàng won the 2023 ASEAN U23 Championship with Vietnam U23, and later became a regular face in the national youth team gatherings. He was once evaluated by the VFF as one of the most experienced players of the U23 generation thanks to his long period of playing in the V.League.

The arrival of Minh Trọng and Phi Hoàng gives coach Arthur Diles more options for the left flank. Both are capable of continuously transitioning between attack and defense, can play in multiple roles, and are particularly suited to the intensity demands as CA TP.HCM competes on multiple fronts.

The presence of Võ Minh Trọng and Nguyễn Phi Hoàng therefore not only gives coach Arthur Diles more depth on the left flank, but could also provide a notable weapon for CA TP.HCM: crosses from the wing.

This is especially a strength that Phi Hoàng has proven. In the 2025 ASEAN U23 semi-final, he delivered two precise crosses that led to goals by Đình Bắc and Xuân Bắc, helping Vietnam U23 come from behind to defeat the Philippines U23 2-1. Minh Trọng also possesses a skillful left foot, speed, and good ability to deliver the ball into the box.

This is even more noteworthy given that just before this duo, CA TP.HCM strengthened their attack with Jason Cummings. The Australian striker featured in the 2022 World Cup and has become one of the club's most notable signings ahead of the new season.

New puzzle pieces thus show that CA TP.HCM is not simply adding numbers. Arthur Diles' team is gradually building a framework rich in speed and attacking power, with the aim of being able to compete for major titles in the 2026/27 season.
