Luis Enrique further solidifies his position among Europe's most accomplished managers after PSG's Super Cup triumph, closing the distance to Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti.

Luis Enrique has just won the European Super Cup with PSG after a 2-1 victory over Salzburg. Désiré Doué scored the decisive goal in the second half, making the French club the first to successfully defend this title since 2017. It is also Enrique's third triumph in this competition.

According to statistics recorded by Opta, Luis Enrique now has six European trophies in his coaching career, consisting of three Champions Leagues and three European Super Cups. This achievement helps the Spanish manager close in on Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti, the only two coaches with more European titles than him.

Luis Enrique wins the European Super Cup for the third time.

Before that, Enrique had won the Champions League three times and now adds three European Super Cups. With six European titles, he is just one title behind Pep Guardiola, while the gap with Carlo Ancelotti is four titles. Ancelotti currently leads with 10 European titles, while Guardiola is second with seven.

Enrique's latest feat is even more notable as PSG defeated a Premier League representative. Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring in the 20th minute, before Brian Madjo equalized for Aston Villa just before halftime. In the second half, Doué put PSG ahead, and the goal was confirmed by VAR after determining the player was not offside.

According to French media, the title further demonstrates Enrique's special status at PSG. His two most recent European Super Cup titles have both come against Premier League sides, after PSG defeated Tottenham Hotspur a year ago. The Parisian club is now unbeaten in 11 consecutive matches against English clubs, with 10 wins and 1 draw.
