Having just joined a V-League giant, player Chau Phi makes a surprise appearance at HAGL

Ha Chau Phi had just joined Ninh Binh in the summer of 2026, but he made an unexpected appearance and netted a goal, contributing to Hoang Anh Gia Lai's 2-1 victory over Suphanburi in a friendly in Thailand.

Defender Ha Chau Phi made a remarkable debut for Hoang Anh Gia Lai by finding the net in his first game for the Phố Núi team (Mountain City club) during the pre-season training trip in Thailand.

Born in 2003 in Thanh Hoa, Chau Phi developed through the youth system of the Thanh Hoa side. At 1.75 meters tall, his strength lies in the right-back position.

Since his early youth days, Chau Phi earned praise from coaches. He was repeatedly summoned to Vietnam's youth national teams, ranging from U19, U20 to U23.

Nevertheless, the path of the 2003-born defender at club level has been far from easy. Chau Phi has worn the jerseys of various teams, including Thanh Hoa, Phu Tho, Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc (now Truong Tuoi Dong Nai), and Xuan Thien Phu Tho.

Ahead of the new season, Chau Phi joined Ninh Binh, a major club that is newly ambitious in the V-League. However, rather than continuing to represent the Ancient Capital team Hoa Lu, the defender was allowed to move to HAGL on a loan deal.

This is considered a chance for Chau Phi to get more game time and rediscover consistency in his career. Right from his first opportunity, the player from Thanh Hoa quickly left his mark.

In August 2026, Chau Phi traveled with HAGL to Thailand for a training camp in preparation for the new season. In the first game against Suphanburi, the 2003-born defender found the net, helping the Phố Núi side secure a 2-1 victory.

A defender scoring on his debut is undoubtedly a positive sign for both Chau Phi and HAGL. After a tough spell characterized by frequent moves between clubs, the player now has a chance to find a suitable environment to grow.

Remarkably, the goal scored against Suphanburi happened in Chau Phi's debut match for the Phố Núi team. While this was only a friendly during the pre-season and doesn't reveal much about his role in the upcoming season, the performance certainly helped the 2003-born defender earn points with the coaching staff.

HAGL is currently finalizing their squad ahead of the new season, and the right-back position is highly competitive for a starting berth. If he can maintain his performance and demonstrate consistency, Ha Chau Phi could turn his stint at HAGL into a career milestone.
