Ronaldo's wedding creates an unexpected turning point for Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has officially married Georgina Rodriguez, but this milestone could affect Al Nassr as he is likely to miss the first two matches of the season.

On August 12, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez publicly confirmed their marriage after an extended summer holiday following Portugal's exit from the 2026 World Cup. The couple shared a joint post on social media, showcasing their gold wedding rings with a brief caption: “I do.”

According to People, the ceremony was held in a private setting rather than a lavish public event. The wedding is said to have taken place in Cascais, an upscale coastal town west of Lisbon, Portugal. The attendees included only Ronaldo, Georgina, and their five children: Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., Eva Maria, Mateo, Alana Martina, and Bella Esmeralda.

Ronaldo got married exactly one year after proposing to Georgina on August 11, 2025. At that time, the Spanish model wrote: “Yes, I do. In this life and all of my lives”, while showing off an oval diamond engagement ring valued at around 6 million euros (approximately $7.8 million).

Ronaldo may miss the first two matches of Al Nassr

After Portugal was eliminated from the 2026 World Cup on July 6, Ronaldo did not return to join his teammates at Al Nassr to prepare for the new season. The Saudi club completed its pre-season training camp in Portugal before returning to Riyadh, but their captain did not attend any training sessions.

According to Al Riyadhiah, sources from Al Nassr confirmed that Ronaldo will miss the first two official matches of the team in the 2026/27 season, across two different competitions.

After being granted an extended leave following his duties with the Portuguese national team at the 2026 World Cup, Ronaldo did not take part in Al Nassr's summer training program. The striker used the additional time off to finalize his wedding with Georgina in Portugal before returning to Saudi Arabia.

Since he has not yet reached optimal physical condition for the opening matches, Ronaldo will first miss the Saudi Pro League opener against Al Fateh in the early hours of August 16. This is the match where Al Nassr begins its title defense campaign.

After that, Al Nassr will play its second match on August 19, facing Al Diriyah in the Round of 32 of the King's Cup. According to the information above, Ronaldo is expected to make his season debut in the second round of the Saudi Pro League when Al Nassr meets Al Riyadh on August 21.

During Ronaldo's absence, new head coach Ange Postecoglou will have to adjust the attacking options to fill the number 9 striker position usually occupied by the Portuguese superstar.
