Vietnam U23 arrives in China, ready to face a series of strong opponents in Asia

Early morning on March 23 local time, the Vietnam U23 national team arrived in Xi'an (China), following a journey from Hanoi with a connecting stop in Guangzhou.

At Xi'an airport, the coaching staff and players led by Acting Head Coach Dinh Hong Vinh were warmly received by the host organizers, facilitating a smooth transfer to their accommodation. The team took the opportunity to rest and recover from the overnight flight, preparing for their first training session later that afternoon to acclimatize to the weather and field conditions.

Participating in the International Football Tournament CFA Team China – Xi'an 2026, the Vietnam U23 team will successively face North Korea U23 on March 25, meet Thailand U23 on March 28, and confront the host China U23 in the final match on March 31.

Evaluating the squad for this tournament, Acting Head Coach Dinh Hong Vinh stated that the Vietnam U23 roster gathers many young talents, including established players like Cao Van Binh, Nguyen Cong Phuong, Le Van Thuận, alongside some new prospects from the U21 generation being developed for the 2026 Asian Games, while also nurturing the future succession plan for Vietnamese football.

Regarding the absence of Vietnamese diaspora player Antonio Moric from the list traveling to China, the coaching staff explained this was an adjustment within a pre-planned professional strategy.

According to Coach Dinh Hong Vinh, the tournament in Xi'an holds significance not only professionally but also as a precious opportunity for young players to accumulate international match experience, gradually mature and improve themselves. “This is an occasion for the players to test themselves against high-quality opponents, thereby enhancing their composure and skill level,” Coach Dinh Hong Vinh emphasized.
